Chuck Fuller – Mt Kirkup.
With bodies weary from pounding the ski hill, and only 2cm of new snow, a walk in the local mountains seemed a great and popular idea. Six of us skied the short North side of Mt Grey, and the Easterly (boulder field) aspect of Mt Kirkup down to a vehicle waiting on the highway. A warm westerly wind has consolidated Northern aspects, but it’s still perfect powder skiing on sheltered slopes. It was my first day on my new K2 Coombas, and they seemed to handle the varied conditions with an ease noticed by my skiing companions.
