Given the heavy snowfall at Wildhorse yesterday, and the relative paucity of new snow in the Rossland Range, Kootenay Pass seemed an obvious choice for powder skiing today. We found light new snow atop a consolidated slab, which we couldn’t get to move on the suspect hoar frost layer (down 45cm), even on the steepest terrain. Andrew, Danielle (split-boarding in the pic) and I put in a skin track and lapped the pillows, drops and perfectly spaced trees off the Easterly aspects of Lunchbox peak till we’d had our powder fill.
